New triptan to try

My side effects or adverse reactions to triptans lately have been an ordeal and have in the past seriously compramised my migraine management. So not too pleased to have Axert causing the severe shortness of breath, chest pain, thing, which makes me in a hightened asthmatic zone for 24 hours. Similar to Amerge but not as bad as Imitrex.

So I had some issues to discuss with my doctor, who was on vacation, so brought up with his replacement. This fellow was quite nice, knew a lot about migraines (which saves me a whole lot of time) and helped me with my medication balance. He told me I can take the symbicort more, as needed, even at the same time as a migraine abortive if I know it is going to aggravate the asthma. This alone can help me when I need to take triptans but cannot tolerate the fallout of them. Plus he gave me some DHE to try. I have had DHE injections in the ER (one time and only one time, and it was the best, most effective ER treatment for a satus migraine). He said it is what he uses for aggressive migraines and has even given it to patients on the hour until the migraines dispates. This is a man who knows how to treat aggressive migraines. It is one of the harsher triptans, but still effective. As such there are issues with nausea, but they usually prescribe something for that as well. I am more than willing to try it, since I know how well it worked for me. It may have the same side effect, but it may not. You never know. I suspect it will give me constriction chest pains, but that is not the bad sort and never long lasting, as long as it is not angina chest pains or I cant breath chest pains all is good.

Anyway, I need a triptan abortive badly right now. I have a persistent migraine and taking T3s for it, while getting me through work, is beginning to give me a headache, which is a sign to stop that. It was a good doctor visit though. I did not feel that need to understate, which I usually do, which enabled us to have a good conversation about these conflicted health issues. I walked out of there with a lot of scripts, which always makes me feel odd, but most of them were for refills of things I could not remember if I had refills of. I suppose I will have to update my neuro and discus the whole Axert situation... but I want to see if managing the asthma will lessen this side effect by itself. Plus want to have a firm strategy immeidately so I don't lose the steps I have gained. Always a juggling act.
